Random musings

(pilfered from another blog ... )

My uncle once:

Never in my life: will I knowingly cause anyone any sort of pain or suffering.

High school was: 5 years of my life that I'd sooner forget.

I will never forget the moment:

I once met: A Chinese guy who lives in France and spoke English with a French accent.

There is this girl I know: She showed me her boobies. I was completely fascinated by them and I must admit, a little bit turned on.

Once at a bar:

Last night I watched: Miami Ink. I love that show. It's rekindled my fascination with tattoos and the reasons why people get them. There was another documentary on tattoos that I saw on CBC recently which was equally fascinating.

If only I had: learned about working out at a gym when I was 21. I woulda been a hot boy! Instead, I find myself playing catch up and it's a lot harder in your late 30s. Come to think of it, at 21 I was terrified of those buffy gym boys and had enormous woodies for them at the same time. Hmmm, probably a good thing that I discovered the gym at a later age. hehehe

Next time I go to church: It will most likely be for a wedding.

When I turn my head to the left: It doesn't hurt

When I turn my head to the right: It doesn't hurt either.

You know I'm lying when: break out in a cold sweat and stammer.

If I were a character written by Shakespeare: I'd wear leotards, weird poofy skirt like thingies and speak ye olde English.

By this time next year:

A better name for me would be:

If I ever go back to school: I would be one of those old doods in the class bewildered at how young everyone looks.

You know I like you if: touch u gently on the arm or shoulder while talking to you.

If I won an award:

Darwin, Mozart, Slim Pickens, and Geraldine Ferraro are: a thinker, a composer, a banjo picker and a Democrat VP runner (people with crazy poofy hair)

Take my advice:

My ideal breakfast is: 1) a cup of cappucino, a chocolate croissant, eggs benedict and smoked salmon over whole wheat toast smothered in hollandaise and a cup of fresh fruit OR
2) ackee and saltfish, cornmeal dumplin', a cup of freshly squeezed OJ and a cup of Blue Mountain coffee

If you visit my hometown: you will sweat a lot. It's very hot there.

If you stay overnight in my house: I will make breakfast for you (unless its a week night, then you are welcome to my Cheerios on top of the fridge)

I'd stop my wedding to: put out the fire on the bride's dress

This world could do without: mosquitoes

I'd rather: be sunning my lazy ass on a tropical beach in the south east asia

My favorite blonde is: Pam Anderson, but I like the answer "Belgian" (hehe)

Paperclips are: dangerous if used as amunition in an elastic band slingshot.

If I do anything well: please praise my efforts.

Gadget envy no more

I've finally given in to techno-consumerism and satisfied my intense gadget envy. Yes, I've finally bought an iPod!

It's taken me the better part of one year's worth of agonizing and internal debate. (I want it, but its so expensive. But i really want it! Do I need one? Maybe I should save the money for something else... ARRRGGHHH, BUT I WANT IT REALLY, REALLY BADLY. Look at your credit card bills...! SIGH... BUT, BUT, I NEED IT!! - Live 8 and the Tsunami of last year didn't help me with the guilt either) And so the agonizing continued as i looked despondently at all the little white earphones in the subway or on the street. Everyone from your regular white collared corporate climber, sexy Queen St hipsters, yoga loving females, head bobbin' -hiphopin' -baller doods all have one so that means I must have one too.

Perhaps its my Virgoan practicality that causes me such anguish over frivoulous purchases or maybe its just my ever mounting debt load.

Anyway, a year of agonizing, weeks (if not, months) of time spent uploading CDs and dloading mp3s, $400 odd dollars, 12 hours of charging and uploading, 3385 songs, 15.87GB later and I awake to a freshly loaded iPod sitting there twinkling in the morning light, warm to the touch and looking as slick and cool as frosty shot of Belvedere vodka. I open my blurry, sleepy eyes and paw my new toy with delicate caresses leaving my fingerprints all over its gleaming surface. This kind of reminds me of waking to a lover ... sigh ... alas, were it so.

I leave my place this morning, proudly stuffing the little white ear buds in my freshly cleaned ears and I press on the click wheel, "shuffle". Ahhhhh, I amble along to the subway, smiling.

These are the very first tracks to be played:

1. The Unforgiven - Metallica
2. Crazy In Love - Beyonce ft. Jay-Z
3. Burn! - Usher
4. I will Love Again (Hex Hector Remix) - Lara Fabian
5. We Let The Stars Go - Prefab Sprout
6. If I like It, I Just Do It - Jamiroquai
7. I Want To Go Outside in The Rain - The Stylistics
8. Alison - Elvis Costello
9. Brown Sugar - The Rolling Stones
10. ELM - Ken Ishii (spinning @ Reel Up)
